The Adventure Bride’s Guide to Using Artificial Elopement Florals
Hey Adventure Brides!
Your favorite elopement photographer is back with more tips, tricks, and advice for your adventure wedding!
As promised in last week’s post, I’m back to discuss my reasons behind EXCLUSIVELY using artificial florals when making my adventure brides’ wedding bouquets.
So let’s jump right in!
Artificial florals are always in season!
That’s right! Even if the flower type you are DEAD set on having in your bouquet tragically isn’t in season during your adventure wedding, you can probably still find artificial ones that look legit.
The colors can be just as vibrant as (if not even brighter than) real flowers. Oftentimes if an adventure bride has a color scheme that is difficult to match, artificial flowers will even be less expensive than trying to find a florist who knows how to dye the flowers themselves.
And for the adventure brides who are super DIY, there are options out there for wooden flowers that you can dye or paint yourself, if that’s what you’re into!
2. Artificial florals are MUCH easier to care for!
I’m not going to lie, real flowers are a pain in the butt to try to keep alive. (Of course I think that about every plant, including cactuses; but I’m sure others out there feel my pain). Trying to get real flowers to live, laugh, and love is a real challenge for me and always has been, especially during a wedding where there are a million other things to worry about.
And different flowers require different environments and conditions in order to thrive. So as you can imagine, this is quite difficult when trying to worry about traveling for an adventure elopement, let alone trying to potentially hike a few miles to get to your photo location while keeping them alive!
By commissioning an artificial bouquet or decor, you can avoid having depressing and dead flowers in your adventure elopement photos, because the artificial ones will still be nice and bright!
3. Artificial florals are much more durable for adventure weddings & elopements than real flowers.
Again, pointing back to reason #2, real flowers tend to die easily if they are not given the perfect conditions.
As most adventure elopements take place after a hike, climb, or physical exertion of some kind; it is SO easy to accidentally crush or destroy a gorgeous bouquet of real blooms. With artificial florals, I am able to choose very durable brands of flowers to make up your bouquet that will not be so easily squished, torn apart, or destroyed by your hike.
I’ve even made bouquets that have survived underwater photo shoots and lived to tell about it! If you’re looking for durability, artificial is the way to go!
4. Artificial florals will not corrupt the environment.
As some of you may know from doing your own research for your adventure elopement locations, many places (especially national parks or places with protected wildlife) do not allow real florals or plants of any kind to enter their land.
It’s very possible that a foreign plant species or even an insect within a plant may be accidentally introduced to the protected environment by the eloping couple or photographer, and may make it more difficult for the native protected species to survive.
Many places will fine you as well as remove you from the premises for violating this regulation. (Shameless plug to hire an elopement planner or photographer for your day so that all these little details are taken care of for you)!
With an artificial bouquet, this will not be an issue in the majority of these locations, as no new species can invade a protected or endangered area!
5. Artificial florals will last forever <3
The last reason I’ll discuss in this particular post is purely sentimental - artificial floral arrangements will last forever! I’m sure you’ve noticed the emerging trend to get your wedding flowers preserved in wax, resin, a shadow box, etc. But with artificial arrangements, your bouquet will never die, and can be kept forever.
For brides who have requested me to do so, I have repurposed their bouquets into wreaths, centerpieces, or placed in resin so that they can either keep a piece of their wedding day in their everyday lives, or perhaps gift it to a family member who was not able to attend the event. I may have to revisit all the endless options for flower preservation in another blog post soon, because there are SO many fun ways to repurpose your adventure bouquet after your wedding!
Even if you’re not sure what you want to do with your bouquet, artificial blooms can be kept as long as you like while you decide, and will not be a race against the clock to dry or find another way to preserve their beauty.
Well, there they are! My top 5 reasons to use artificial florals for adventure elopement bouquets!
I hope this post helped any potential bride reading this! Many of these reasons can apply to traditional church or venue weddings as well as adventure weddings!
Till next time, lovelies!
