  1. Exploring the Wild Beauty

Step into a world of breathtaking beauty as you explore the rugged terrain of Badlands National Park. From towering rock formations to sweeping prairie vistas, every corner of this majestic landscape offers a stunning backdrop for your elopement ceremony. Whether you choose to exchange vows atop a windswept ridge or beneath the towering cliffs, the Badlands promise a wild and romantic adventure unlike any other.

Diverse species of wildlife also reside in this beautiful park, giving couples unique opportunities to see and interact with some of the most majestic creatures in South Dakota.

2. Choosing the Perfect Location

With its vast expanse of wilderness, Badlands National Park offers countless options for your elopement ceremony. From iconic overlooks to secluded canyons, each location offers its own unique charm and beauty. Consider your preferences for scenery, privacy, and accessibility as you choose the perfect spot to say "I do" amidst the splendor of the Badlands.

Honestly, my favorite thing about the Badlands for eloping couples, is that you don’t necessarily have to hike if you don’t want to. Don’t get me wrong - there are plenty of advanced level hikes for those who love it, but for those who just want to sit back and relax and drive and enjoy the scenery, you can stop at so many spots and overlooks throughout the park for photos, that you don’t have to be an avid hiker to get some breathtaking landscape shots for your wedding album.

3. Securing Permits

Before planning your elopement in Badlands National Park, it's essential to obtain the necessary permits for your ceremony. Permits are required for all weddings and ceremonies held within the park, including elopements. Be sure to contact the park's permitting office well in advance to inquire about permit availability, fees, and any additional requirements. By securing the proper permits, you can ensure a smooth and stress-free experience on your special day. If you have any questions about this process, feel free to reach out to be or your adventure elopement photographer for help! We’d be glad to help make some calls or track down some answers for you!

4. Capturing the Moment

Preserve the magic of your elopement day with stunning photographs that capture the raw beauty and emotion of the Badlands. From sunrise to sunset, the ever-changing light and shadows of the Badlands offer endless opportunities for breathtaking photos that will be cherished for a lifetime.

Make sure you bring along your favorite adventure wedding photographer - ME! - who is familiar with the trails and overlooks to get you to the best locations at the best times of the day for the best lighting and scroll-stopping photos!

Sunrise & sunset are unlike any other - sometimes you get the softest pastel painted skies and other times you get a fiery show as the sun goes to sleep for the night. The park is also open 24 a day with an open hike policy unless the trails are otherwise marked, which means you can hike anytime anywhere, making this the perfect place for stargazing!
