The Adventure Bride’s Guide to the Best Honeymoon Locations for 2024

Hey Adventure Brides! I’m back this week with some honeymoon inspiration for you! For couples planning their honeymoon, places like Hawaii and the Bahamas are so popular, but in my humble opinion are tad overdone.

So, I comprised a list of some popular places to honeymoon that are a bit underrated; but are totally worth a visit!

1. Santorini, Greece

Greece is an absolute dream. From the food to the beaches to the architecture, Santorini is a wonderful place to spend a romantic week or two after your wedding. For couple wanting to elope where they honeymoon, this is still an amazing option.

Santorini coastline

Sunsets in Santorini against the iconic whitewashed architecture and the beautiful Aegean waters are some of the most beautiful in the world.

The cuisine in Greece is world-renowned, and there are so many luxurious accommodations and unique places to dine in Santorini. The island literally has cave-like restaurants carved out of the sea cliffs, where you can your new spouse can watch the stars come out over the horizon. It doesn’t get much more romantic than that! (But wait, there’s more!)

Vineyards with some of the tastiest wine for every palate, historical archeological sites buried in volcanic ash, sailing activities, and private sunbathing spots are just a few of the activities couples on their honeymoon can experience in Santorini.

2. Alaskan cruise

Caribbean cruises are beautiful, but for the couples who like cooler weather and want to add a touch of magic to their honeymoon, there’s nothing quite like seeing the Northern Lights from the water.

Alaska is such a wild and untamed place, filled with raw and beautiful landscapes and diverse wildlife in their natural habitats. Couples can see whales, seals, eagles, and moose to name a few, on their Alaskan cruise.

Alaskan cruise ship under the Northern Lights

The Alaskan shoreline cruise stops provide opportunities for couples to stretch their legs and embark on a few unforgettable memories together. Activities like fishing, kyaking in glacier-fed streams, scenic train rides, and exploring the captivating coastal towns are a few highlights couples can choose to experience.

Many people love cruises because it’s a fun time to unplug their phones for a few days from the outside world and connect with each other. And what better way to do that than under the gorgeous Northern Lights!

Many times, Alaskan cruises tend to be a bit more laid back, with more flexible schedules than other destinations, giving couples more time on land to explore port cities and delve into Alaskan culture and history. Seeing native art pieces and learning the region’s history is such a fun experience to immerse yourself in when not on the ship; and communities are very welcoming and friendly.

Northern Lights are probably the main reason most couples are motivated to book an Alaskan cruise. The best time to view them from a cruise line is in the late fall or winter; so bring your coats and gloves!

3. Brazil

Brazil is probably not the first place you think of when you hear the word “honeymoon,” but don’t let that fool you! Brazil is one of the world’s most beautiful places, especially for couples who enjoy great food, lively music, and jaw-dropping landscapes.

The bustling cities of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo offer couples who prefer a more urban environment to enjoy the vibrant culture of Brazil. In Rio you can view, hike and even climb up the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue with his arms outstretched, and photograph the breathtaking landscape from the very top!

Iguazu Falls

Food that seems to burst with flavor, lively music, bright outfits, and colorful cultural festivals - all of these things and more can be experienced from the cities of beautiful Brazil.

Powerful waterfalls like Iguazu Falls, a natural wonder on the border between Brazil & Argentina can be experienced; and incredible Amazon rainforest river cruises to explore the diverse wildlife in their natural habitat can also be booked by couples honeymooning!

In the Pantanal Wetlands, boat tours and wildlife safaris can be booked to experience exotic wildlife encounters with animals like jaguars and capybaras. What nature lover wouldn’t LOVE that?!

For couples looking for an intimate retreat, there are a number of secluded beaches that have some of the most jaw-dropping sunsets on the continent.

Although Brazil’s reputation may not scream the word “HONEYMOON!” couples who choose to honeymoon there will definitely find themselves pleasantly surprised by the unique experience.

4. Bali

One of the most well-known places to go for a tropical honeymoon getaway, Bali is home to some of the world’s most famous beaches. From the pristine ocean views to the luxurious floating breakfast experiences that can be had at some of the best private villas, Bali is a favorite amongst travelers.

Broken Bridge, Nusa Penida Island

For fans of history and archeology, Bali has a number of rich cultural experiences to those who decide to step off the beaten path and try something new. Couples who honeymoon to Bali can explore ancient temples, witness traditional dance performances, and even participate in local ceremonies to get a truly immersive experience. While in the cities, couples can discover the unique and colorful hand-crafts that the local people have designed themselves. Local markets, artisan pieces, and vibrant art galleries are among some of the things couples who appreciate the creative side of a new culture can enjoy.

For those who prefer the more bougie life, there are a number of extravagant resorts and villas that can be booked that overlook the water where couples can sip the best champagne while they watch the sun go down in the distance. Sunset cruises and island-hopping tours are also a hit amongst honeymooners, and it is definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Some of the best spas can be found in Bali as well, providing couples with a relaxing wellness and rejuvenating activity to do together.

Couple who enjoy exploration and adventure (so probably most of you reading this blog) can choose to hike active volcanoes, participate in a number of water sports, and exploring rice terraces to name a few, making Bali one of the best places to honeymoon for 2024.

5. Canadian Rockies

Last, but definitely not least, the Canadian Rockies are a famous spot for adventure-loving couples to honeymoon.

Banff National Park is arguably one of the most gorgeous places in the world, and definitely in North America. For those who love outdoor activities like camping/glamping, kyaking/canoeing, hiking, mountain biking/climbing, and horseback riding, Banff and Jasper National Parks have it all.

Elk, moose, and grizzly bears are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to unforgettable wildlife encounters for nature lovers honeymooning in the Canadian Rockies.

Iconic landmarks like Lake Louise, hot springs, and icy glaciers are just a few of the scroll-stopping photos you’ll get to share with your friends and family after a trip here.

For couples looking for a mountainous, intimate winter wonderland, the Canadian Rockies are the perfect spot. Activities such as stargazing and viewing the Aurora will leave couples awed and inspired during their honeymoon and for years to come. The rugged landscape and there sheer vastness of the countryside will allow couples to find secluded spots for quiet moments together, making the Canadian Rockies one of the top honeymoon locations for 2024.
