The Adventure Bride’s Guide to Choosing a Unique Color Pallet for Your Adventure Elopement

Hey Adventure Brides!

This week’s topic is all about florals - more specifically, how to pick out a unique color pallet that doesn’t feel cliche or overdone and fits your personality well!

  1. Consider the Season

Just like with a traditional wedding, season will (most likely) play a part in influencing your colors for your florals and if applicable any colored attire worn by potential guests/bridal party members.

2. Consider the Location

While location won’t dictate everything every time, it might help give you a clue as to your color pallet. While roses in the desert would be pretty, a more unique option would be to choose a cactus or succulent theme and play with some of those pallets.

While irises in Scotland would be nice, carrying a unique bouquet complete with some thistles would make a much more appropriate and visually appealing choice!

3. Think Beyond the Color Pallet

Now that you have your colors fairly nailed down, try thinking outside the box when it comes to the different shades.

For example, if you’re looking for a autumn color scheme but don’t want the run-of-the-mill burnt orange and burgundy, try a shade of peach/light orange/coral with a shade of pink/lighter red and some warmer browns rather than dark bold colors all the way around.

The bride who chose this bouquet did exactly that. We started at dark oranges, burgundy, and browns, and ended up with this one-of-a-kind color scheme that she was absolutely thrilled with and got so many compliments on for her unique color choices and pairings!

4. Get Creative!

Don’t be afraid to mix and match different colors.

Pinterest is one of my very favorite resources, and you can find endless color combination inspiration photos (even if they aren’t technically of flowers) to help visualize seeing your favorite shades together.

Paint cards from your local hardware store can also be a good resource and can easily fit into your purse when you are dress shopping to help you visualize if you’re staying true to your shade!

I hope this has been a helpful topic - every since this gorgeous early October wedding in Illinois, this color pallet has received some really kind compliments because of its unique qualities.

As an adventure bride, the sky is quite literally the limit to what non-traditional and creative splashes of color you can incorporate into your wedding!
